Gregory Craig

Gregory Craig.  New White House Counsel, and another in the growing list of Clinton advisers added to the Obama camp. Craig, a friend of the Clintons from their law school days, defended Bill Clinton in the impeachment proceedings in 1998. He also represented the father of Elian Gonzalez, the little Cuban boy who found himself in a custody/immigration debacle in 2000 that ended with the boy being returned to Cuba with his father. Recently, Elian made the news again when he joined the communist party, announcing his unfailing support for Castro.

Throughout Obama’s campaign, Craig served as one of Obama’s policy advisors, and stood in as John McCain during Obama’s debate prep.

My favorite part: He’s also the reason that Hinckley, Reagan’s would-be assassin, gets to hang out with his family on weekends.

Mr. Craig defended John Hinckley Jr., who tried to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981, and was credited with crafting Mr. Hinckley’s successful insanity defense.
