15 Year old Madam sells her 7 year old sister

There are some things for which there really aren’t any words. But I will find some for this. It isn’t something I’d normally write about, but it really got under my skin, so I’m going to bring it to your attention.

Police in New Jersey’s capital city say a 15-year-old sold her 7-year-old sister to have sex with as many as seven men and boys at a weekend party near their home.

The story goes on to say that the little girl was treated, and the 15 year old girl also stayed behind and whored herself as well.

I can’t even process this. My first question was, what happened to that 15 year old girl that she thinks it’s alright to not only sell herself, but her sister as well? And does it matter? She’s clearly old enough to know that it’s wrong… unless she had been treated that way?

Then my thoughts went to the 7 men/boys that actually thought it was a good idea to rape a 7 year old. That to me is even more disgusting. What goes through someone’s head that they think it’s okay? Is the mentality that they paid, so they in effect own her? The idea that a little girl can become a sex toy is horrific at best. When the story mentioned the crying little girl being taken in for treatment, my heart broke.

As far as the 15 year old… I hope they get her some serious help. She’s being charged with aggravated sexual assault and promoting prostitution, among other things.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me reconsider wanting to have kids.

Pam Stout on Letterman

Pam Stout, President of the Idaho Tea Party Patriots went on late night last night. I’m unsure why Letterman had her on, but honestly, this is an awesome interview. She articulated so many things about our movement that I love, and represented so many of us.

Thank you, Pam. The rest of you – watch this.

Are Democrats losing their hold over women?

Politico had a great article today on women in the Tea Party movement.

It’s clear that woman have been a driving force in this movement, probably more than ever before on the Right. It can be attributed to a lot of things, not the least of which is, as Darla DeWald said in the Politico piece, is the “mama bear” instinct that kicks in when women feel that their children are at risk. Now that it’s clear that the issues at hand are going to effect every child in this country, the maternal instincts are kicking in. Mothers will fight for their children.

This potentially points to a greater problems for Democrats in upcoming months. Women have largely swung toward the Democratic party for ages. The reasons have been hashed out over and over, but here are some quick bullet points:

  • Women as a whole make less money. Therefore, they are generally in a tougher spot when they are single/divorced. Democratic platforms are all about a safety net for when one is vulnerable.
  • Abortion. The idea of it being outlawed is a sticking point for many women, who feel threatened at the idea of losing that option. In addition, a majority of the modern feminist movement bases their entire existence on trying to fight those evil Republicans that are trying to “police their wombs”. Or something. Which is funny when you consider the health care legislation they were so excited about getting rammed through.
  • The Democratic party has worked to paint themselves as the champions of the downtrodden. Poor people, minorities, and women have long been beholden to the false sense of security that the Democratic party strives to provide. See: first pullet point.

So what’s changing now? The fact that, despite claiming to provide a safety net, Democrats are losing popularity. They have passed legislation that the Left has been fighting to pass for 50 years. They have control of the House, Senate, and White House. They should be riding high… but they’re not. And this is in no small part because of the women that are becoming a loud, fierce voice in this battle.

Nancy Pelosi, as the highest ranking female elected official in the country, has tried to spin nearly every issue as a women’s issue. She did it with climate change. She did it with health care. And let’s face it, in the past, this has been a winner for the Democrats. The ladies, however, aren’t buying it.

Maybe it’s because some of those women who have been chanting “hands off my body” for 40 years finally realized that government involvement means that they’re involved when it’s inconvenient too. Maybe women on the left are realizing that they are more than their uterus, and that there is more to “women’s rights” than abortion. Maybe it’s because those same women want freedom for their daughters. Who knows. The bottom line is that some of the biggest political players on the Right in the past year have been women, and that is likely to continue. Some of the most passionate, effective activists and minds springing up out of this movement have been women. Smart Girl Politics has been on the forefront of the conservative women’s movement, and has provided a unique outlet for women to connect, learn, and mobilize locally. The beauty of all this? Women are drawn to other women in leadership, and the effect has been a groundswell of new female voters, candidates, and activists on the Right.

Nancy Pelosi’s thinly veiled attempt to make this health care legislation a win for women’s rights was laughable. Just a reminder from RedState’s Lori Ziganto of how this bill actually effects women:

Because a quick search of the product classification database shows just how much women, and particularly Moms, will be punitively taxed. Tampons will be taxed; we are hereby punished not just by our monthly visitor, but because of it. Breast pumps will be taxed.  Those of us who are “punished by a baby”,  will now truly be punished monetarily by Congress for choosing (so much for choice!) to breast feed our children. What happened to wanting women to have it all? You are punishing women who work and need to pump to provide the best possible sustenance to their infants. It’s organic; I thought y’all liked that? Or is that just another thing to which you merely pay lip service for political expediency and “cool” points?

Birth control will now be more expensive as well, including diaphragms and condoms. Condoms, hmm, what shall we call that one? The roll-down tax? I suppose they figure who cares if people can’t afford condoms. Who needs personal responsibility? Pesky pregnancies won’t be a problem; abortions will be fully funded! That’s feminism for you. You’ve come a long way, baby! They should probably change that phrase, since they don’t seem to care much for actual babies.

So… what was this about Republicans punishing you for having girly plumbing? We’re not buying it anymore, Nancy. The bottom line is that unless the Dems find a way to stop the bleeding they’re going to pay for it in November. In fact, I’m banking on that very thing.

FreedomWorks podcast: The Violent Left

First, you should probably read this, written by Brendan this morning. In case you’re too lazy, here’s the highlight:

Rep. James Clyburn accused protesters who opposed the Obamacare bill of being engaged in terrorism in an interview with NPR. He likened the protesters to the KKK and slandered the Republican congressmen who waved flags and spoke to the crowd outside the capitol building last weekend.

Rep. Clyburn should immediately apologize for his incendiary remarks and his slander of those who came to Washington to voice their concerns about the Obamacare bill. When a congressman labels someone a terrorist, that is a serious and harmful accusation that should not be taken lightly.

Brendan and I sat down this morning to talk about the threats and about the tension in today’s political climate. Tune in to hear audio of violent, weird, and some downright creepy voicemails.

Rachel Maddow Incites Violence

We recently received this call from an “anonymous source”, if you will.

maddow

Sheer brilliance. Click to listen. Do it. Now.

Some money quotes:

“Be careful what you wish for – the right to bear arms means that everyone can bear arms.”

“We will be fighting you to the death.”

“I’m so glad that I saw Rachel Maddow. She’s brilliant. She’s absolutely fantastic. And her diagnosis of the ills of the American right are so right on. I mean, basically, what you’re doing is just saying no. You’re like belligerent children. You have no concept of how hard people have worked to get this together, and to make sure that we win. We WILL win, and will continue. That’s why Obama got elected.”

“We are now organized. We will show up at your town meetings, and your town halls, and trust me, it’s a force to be reckoned with.”

Sounds pretty threatening to me… but will Rachel condemn this? I’m sure she won’t. How about any of these phone calls, posted back in August?

I’ll be the first to say that the calls to violence that are floating around both sides are inappropriate. It’s not productive, and makes everyone look bad. The media isn’t helping the situation by feeding stories that may or may not (and are most likely not) true from last weekend’s Tea Party rallies in Washington, and downplaying Cantor’s office being shot up on Monday.

Can we all just agree that shooting people is bad? No one is supporting those that are throwing bricks through windows or anything else. But Ms. Maddow, consider that the hatred runs from your side as well. Words matter, and apparently your words are inciting threats from your listeners. How’s that for hate speech?

Maybe a word about that on tomorrow’s show to condemn the hatred of fellow human beings? I won’t hold my breath.

Interview with Dr. Dan Benishek

Tabitha chats with the most popular Republican in America, Dr. Dan Benishek. Dr. Benishek is running against Rep. Bart Stupak (MI-1), who came under fire for becoming the deciding vote in passing the Senate bill in the House.

Are we fighting a losing battle?

I came to DC almost 7 months ago. Sometimes it feels like an eternity. Sometimes it feels like I’m still not really here… like I’m just visiting a place I never really wanted to be in the first place. I hate Washington, DC and what it represents. I walked through this city as a tourist and was stunned by the beauty of it. The history, the buildings, the architecture, the pristine lawns and the monuments. It’s like no other city in the country. The longer I spend here, the more I loathe the underbelly of what it has become.

Our Capitol.

We used to stand for freedom. We were founded by a group of people who went to great lengths to fight and die for not only their liberty, but for ours. They fought tyranny and won. Here we are 233 years later, and our President has just signed legislation that takes us one very large step back toward the kind of nation that we left. Many see this as a good thing. Most don’t.

Freedom has never meant comfort. In fact, it usually comes to mean just the opposite. It means being willing to sacrafice the handouts and the “comfort” at the hands of one who would seek to control you. It means that sometimes you’re probably going to not get the things you need until you can afford them. It’s going to be inconvenient. The nature of freedom is not necessarily prosperity. Sometimes, it means the freedom to fail. It means having the opportunity to hit bottom, and the opportunity to pick yourself back up and come back stronger. It means starting over sometimes.

With the passage of this health care legislation, we’ve created yet another entitlement in our country. Entitlements are impossible to remove once they are in place – the Democratic party has been buying chunks of the electorate for decades. We are at a point now where more than half the country is receiving more from the government than they contribute. It was Maggie Thatcher who famously said “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money”. We’re well on our way.

Here’s the issue with this health care legislation – it’s not about health care. It never was. It was about sugarcoating an idea that has effectively forced even more Americans to rely on the government for their well being. This is another block of people who will not vote against the Democratic party. Not to be hyperbolic, but if the majority of the country becomes dependent on the government, then is freedom no longer valued? Is it even possible to elect people who represent limited government when that’s not what the majority of the people want anymore?

More simply, is the Republic dead?

I don’t have an answer. But I do know that the uprising of the past year and a half, along with the backlash from this health care reform that was jammed down our throats, has shown me that there are millions of Americans who value their freedom more than they value the false sense of security from the government. For that, I am grateful. Seeing tens of thousands of people show up again and again to fight back gives me hope, and I’m not willing to go down without a fight. This is still America, and we are still a nation that values liberty above all else. We were founded by people who were willing to fight to the death over tax increases. That spirit  is alive and well in many today, and from that, my hope is that a revolution occurs. We’ll come back stronger.

And we’ll come back free.
