Illinois: Thank Goodness For Michigan… Or We'd Be Last In Everything

Illinois Democrats (I repeat myself) have still not figured out that raising income taxes when no one has money will continue to pummel their already struggling economy. In the wee hours of the morning, the state legislature managed to force through a 67% tax increase with a vote of 30-29. Several Democrats joined a the Republicans in voting against the bill.

Illinois is currently ranked 48th nationally in job creation. They are swimming in debt, and rather than figure out what they can cut, they intend to enact a 17% spending increase over the next four years… which should work out well after they drive the businesses (read: employers) out of their state with the 45% corporate tax hike.

This drive Illinois state income tax up to the 4th highest in the nation, according to State Senator Matt Murphy, who vowed on Twitter to file a fight for repeal by the end of the week.

“You may think your [sic] stabilizing this budget but you’re not,” said Republican Sen. Matt Murphy . “You’re bankrupting our state with this bill.”

Dear Illinois: get better representatives.

Tabitha: you are so pretty. And smart. I would give up my liberal membership card for a kiss from you

One dimensional thinking produces the not brilliant idea of raising taxes. Govmt must send out signal that companies can grow and produce without the fear of getting smashed with taxes. The BHO policies are a dream come true for those believing that govmt is the best provider but are proving to be the nightmare that doesn’t end for businesses sitting in Trillions because of the real threat of being taxed or regulated to death.

  3. You are correct, Tabitha. It wasn’t for a lack of trying that more conservatives weren’t elected to the Illinois house and governor’s mansion. But there’s this little area of Illinois called “Chicago” that pretty much decides who’s governor.

When Quinn rammed through the tax increases, my first thought was that I should be able to go to my employers now and asked for raise since I can’t make ends meet with what I make right. I will tell them that making cuts in my personal budget is not an option, I just need them to give me more money.

That’s what Quinn is saying to the Illinois people.

We need strong voices to rise up in every community (including Chicago) to vote for leaders who will cut spending and cut taxes to entice businesses to come to Illinois and create more jobs.

2 Ivy degrees…hmm,I guess tact and loyalty were not part of your academic prowess…although comedy (might) be…although I doubt that too. Should not take a kiss from a dashing conservative for you to realize your party blows. Just a thought or 2.

Hey Two-Degrees, you want to kiss Tabitha? Damn, that’s the smartest thing I’ve heard a liberal say in months. Maybe there is hope for your ilk. That said, it might require some help from a conservative who she’ll listen to. Maybe me.

But firstly, I doubt she’d let you … I mean, unless you’ve renounced liberalism for at least 5 years, surely you cannot be trusted yet. It takes time to deprogram from liberalism.

Secondly, as a liberal, you’re probably not a Christian. Strike 2. If I am wrong, then answer the question: how can you reconcile liberalism?

Terminally, I think Tabitha has like 100,000 followers on Twitter: you know, the old waiting line problem you libs know and love. Yer out.

However, for a generous donation to Freedom Works and a 15% commission for me, I will try to arrange it. I will even test her out for you. She says she is 5’1″, so I will have to pick her up to do this, but I’ll make sure all is in working order. Sound reasonable?

2 Ivy degrees…Tabitha is a cute little thing, so I can empathize with your kiss quest. However, liberals need at least a year of deprogramming before they can be trusted. But send Freedomworks a generous donation and see if it helps.

I am 65, living in Texas, working in Saudi Arabia, grew up in downstate Illinois. What happens in Cook County has always driven Illinois state politics.

I remember thinking back in the ’60′s that if Cook County (and its inhabitants) fell into Lake Michigan, it would solve 2/3′s of Illinois problems.

  8. we have the same national socialist democrats and union bosses running my state into bankruptcy.yes they are going raise taxes despite 20% unemployment and they will tax the boat building industry out of state.but you know lefties if they see it they tax it.these same bums gave us this recession with the community reinvestment act and the sub prime mortgage scam with the mess picked up by the tax payer.this is national socialist democrats interfering in the free market with the usual bad results.

We have the very same issue with Wa State, King county (meaning Seattle et al) is who decides the race. That’s why we have dingy patty instead of Dino. ARRGGHHH!! It’s so frustrating to be surrounded by such ignorant people. For being one of the most educated cities, they can’t see the forest through the trees…
