You Might Be A Racist…

Hilarious. From Fingers Malloy.

If you are against socialized medicine and you are a white conservative, you may be a racist.

If you are a liberal democrat and were at one point a member of the KKK (Senator Byrd), you are NOT a racist.

If you oppose government bailouts, don’t like being told what car to drive, what food to eat or are against the Fairness Doctrine, you may be a racist.

If you are a liberal democrat of color and you oppose a white conservative president, you are NOT a racist.

If you are a white conservative and you supported people like Clarence Thomas, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Linda Chavez, Alberto Gonzales, Carlos Gutierrez, Samuel Alito, Dana Parino and Elanie Chao to become Justices of the Supreme Court or high ranking government officials, you are not only a racist but you hate women.

If you are a liberal of any color and opposed those nominations, you are not only NOT racists, you are patriots.

If you are a white conservative and you oppose communists advising the president, you are a racist.

Well done, Malloy.

Dowd, Carter, and the liberals who cry wolf…

Racism exists. This is a fact. It is not, however, as prevalent as it was in the 60′s and prior. There is no denying the fact that we’ve made great strides to bridge the gap between races. Kathleen McKinley grew up in Mississippi in the 60′s – these are her thoughts:

I think anyone who reads me on a regular basis knows how passionate I am about the race issue. Growing up in the 60′s in Mississippi as a child of integration, I saw real racism, up close, and horrifying. When people like Maureen Dowd call people racist that are no such thing, she diminishes what happened back then, and she makes the word racist nothing more than a slur.

She should be ashamed.

This goes for everyone. For the likes of Maureen Dowd and Jimmy Carter to come out with these blanket accusations means that really, they’re desperate. They have no idea how to react to what’s going on, and the racism is their default – there’s no way to definitively refute it, so the accusations work. They’ll go out of their way to spin our media coverage into that of a KKK rally… which would be funny if it didn’t mean intensifying the problem.

Ron Miller weighs in on being a conservative, black candidate who expressed his concerns with Obama’s policy proposals campaign:

You would think I had donned a white robe and hood based on the reactions of my black friends. One even went so far as to say that Obama’s blackness was reason enough for me and other blacks to vote for him. I shot back that when I ran against a long-time white incumbent for a state Senate seat in 2006, she and other blacks voted against me in droves so racial solidarity apparently only works one way.
I went on to evoke the old Zora Neale Hurston quote, “my skinfolk ain’t necessarily my kinfolk,” a phrase used often as a pejorative against blacks who don’t toe the party line. In this case, I used it to shine the light on the naked hypocrisy of blacks who want unquestioned loyalty to Obama because he’s black but call Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele, the first black chairman of the GOP, a “house Negro.”

The bigger issue is this: They’re making the race issue trite. No one wants to hear about it anymore, because they’re using it in contexts that are just laughable. The way they talk, you’d think that what happened at conservative rallies across the country was equivalent to a Klan meeting. So far, I have not seen a burning cross or white hood. Sorry to burst your bubble, leftists.

The truth? There have been black and hispanic speakers at every Tea Party event I’ve gone to, and every single one has managed to survive the racist mobs! 9/12 included several black speakers, a hispanic speaker… hip hop music as well as country. Are there more white people? Sure. There is no doubt a racial divide. This is only enhanced by encouraging racial memes, not diminished.

So what happens when racist events actually occur? They get swept under the rug because people are so tired of hearing about it. I am called a racist on a daily basis. It has no effect on me anymore. Headlines with the racist accusations don’t even get a click at this point.

Get a freaking grip, Maureen Down and Jimmy Carter. The current opposition has nothing to do with the fact that he’s black. It has everything to do with him being a tax and spend liberal that I disagree with on every level. The color of his skin does not impact his policies or his leadership, and those are what we are taking issue with. Keep beating a dead horse to your own peril.

Hilarious: Sponsors drop support for wingnut Glenn Beck

Liberal got all flustered with Glenn Beck for accusing Obama of being a racist. I don’t know about “racist”, since I am not in his head, but he is most definitely a racial opportunist, and Beck said what many are thinking. Being not-white doesn’t eliminate your capacity for racism. The president has been all too willing to play the race card at every given opportunity, even when it’s entirely irrelevant (*cough*LYNNSWEET*cough*)

This piece was brought to my attention this morning, and I’ll admit, I laughed out loud.

Conservatives’ faith in the free market must be dropping substantially today, as right-wing Fox News host Glenn Beck’s TV show has lost too many sponsors to count, including eight today. Some of the sponsors opting not to support Beck’s wingnuttery include Geico, CVS, Best Buy, Progressive, ConAgra, Wal-Mart, RadioShack, Procter and Gamble, SC Johnson and Sargento.

Right. Because one person said something controversial and is dealing with the consequences, our faith in the free market is crumbling. Boo hoo. Sorry, Alexa Dobson, this is far from earth shattering. Beck will be just fine, believe me. He’s not exactly hurting. In case you weren’t aware, it feeds ratings. Remember when Rush’s numbers jumped by 10 million after Obama started whining and picking fights?

The people pulling out of sponsorship are pulling out for economic reasons. They’re keeping quiet, careful not to rock the boat… it’s business. These things happen, and the sponsors have every right to pull out to protect their image if they want to. This does NOT serve as a reflection on Beck’s opinions, but as a recognition that it’s controversial, and could taint their image. Their decision to pull out is a business move, not an ideological one. They have every right to do so, and Beck is a big boy. He can handle it. And those who want to protest the sponsors have every right to do so as well. It’s how our country works, and if you expect faith in the free market to be shattered because one political analyst pisses off some sponsors, you’re sadly mistaken.

Post Racial America?

You’ve all seen this by now. At least, you should have. Because it’s been everywhere since last week’s health care Obamamercial, when Lynn Sweet was given the honors of asking the obligatory race question, as that is naturally relevant to health care.

I’m so sick of race baiting. And I’m so sick of the apologies for everything except what he should be apologizing for. Pandering is getting old. Why are the police stupid? Why on EARTH would they question a man who was acting strange and produced a non state-issued ID when approached? Because naturally, blacks (and Latinos, as he was careful to add) are so oppressed that even when they’re not targeted, we should assume that they are. How’s that for post-racial?

Everyone needs to watch the police department’s response.

We are in a post-racial America. Which, apparently, means that any crime committed by a white person against a minority is a racially motivated crime. And even when it isn’t actually a crime, and said Caucasian is just doing their job, they can also be called stupid by the President.

The Deep South, The Middle East… Same Thing!

And here goes HuffPo again. Johann Hari calls the Southern US one of the most homophobic places on the planet.

The joke isn’t on gay people; it’s on the bigots who, when confronted with this creation, believe he is real, and typical of gays. Baron Cohen literally risked his life to make the point. He went to some of the most homophobic places on earth — the refugee camps of the Middle East, and the Deep South of the US — and behaved as a gargoyle drawn from the subconscious fears of homophobes.

Wait, excuse me? Except for all those other places where it’s outlawed. For so long, Democrats have worked to destroy the Southern part of the country based on past offenses. Are things perfect here? No. Are there pockets of serious bigotry throughout Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia and the Carolinas? Absolutely. But they are hardly the norm. In fact, Atlanta has one of the largest gay populations in the country, and their Pride Day festivities are covered nationwide.

The larger issue is that, like many non-southerners, Mari hates the south every bit as much as he claims the south hates gay people. He thinks that the GOP gained a stronghold in the south because the Democrats stopped caring about people.

So how did Nashville become a Republican heartland? Because the Democrats stopping speaking up for the poor and the lower-middle – the people Hank Williams sang “had lots of luck, and it’s all been bad.” Why? The party became slowly addicted to donations from the super-rich – so like the Republicans always had, they defended their donors, not their voters. There were two political parties with one economic policy. Nobody was left to talk about the economic screwing of the South. So what was left? Cultural differences. If you stopped talking about rich and poor, you started obsessing about flags and fags.

Wait, really? Democrats became too much like the evil Republicans, and since they agreed the only thing left to do was hate “fags”? How deluded and twisted. How about paying attention to the success of the south? The fact that it’s the fastest growing part of the country, with a low cost of living. Here in North Carolina we have 11 of the 100 fastest growing counties in the country. The fact that we’re the least affected by the recession… and this is BECAUSE of more conservative leadership. It’s easy to play by a 50 year old set of rules, but at some point you need to update. The south it not what it once was regarding homophobia or race. We’ve come a long way.

What this comes down to is that the left NEEDS to demonize the south. It’s necessary for them. They need a counterpoint to their own bigotry. It’s easy to bury your own faults when you spend all your time placing them on someone else. Think it doesn’t exist?

Okay fine. I just wanted a reason to use that video. But all you need to watch is the Sotomayor hearings to get a grip on the bigotry of the left. Racism, homophobia, and other bigotry are NOT exclusive to the south, or to the Right.

Short story: Stop blaming the south. We’re not homophobic Bible thumping zealots a la Westboro Baptist. We’re not KKK members, and the last time I checked we weren’t beheading gay people.

Freepers Vs. The Daily Kos

And you know that when both Freepers and dKos posters are involved in a battle, it’s going to be a bloodbath. A few days ago, the story broke about racist comments on Free Republic involving Malia Obama. Said comments were inspired by the posting of this photo:

And yeah, they were pretty vile. Example:

“A typical street whore.” “A bunch of ghetto thugs.” “Ghetto street trash.” “Wonder when she will get her first abortion. “Could you imagine what world leaders must be thinking seeing this kind of street trash and that we paid for this kind of street ghetto trash to go over there?” wrote one commenter.
“They make me sick …. The whole family… mammy, pappy, the free loadin’ mammy-in-law, the misguided chillin’, and especially ‘lil cuz… This is not the America I want representin’ my peeps,” wrote another.

However, the plot thickens. The reporter that published the original story in the Vancouver Sun is Chris Parry. Parry is a Daily Kos blogger, which would mean nothing… except that he is a known advocate of posting hate speech and passing the blame onto conservatives. Even Gawker, who is hardly a friend of conservatives, finds the whole thing suspicious.

It gets worse, though. Chris Parry, it appears, has advocated on his Daily Kos blog any number of egregious offenses, among them: posting hate speech on sites like Free Republic and blaming it on conservatives. Parry posted under the name “hollywoodoz” on Daily Kos, where his signature was “Fool me once, I’ll punch you in the f***ing head.” Parry outed himself as hollywoodoz here, where he discloses the company he helped start. In essence: Parry, the journalist, found his story right where he’d been circling it for a very long time, and reported it as news. Sigh.

Right. So apparently, he’s been digging for a long time, and finally managed to either find or plant his story. The premise is faulty – can you imagine the headlines we’d get if we trolled the Daily Kos? It’s like shooting fish in a barrel. Sourcing anonymous commenters is a reporting fail. Honestly, though, if the Freepers were actually the ones responsible, I’m good with the publicity. Those are definitely not people I want playing on my team. If it was in fact Parry realizing that there’s not actually enough racism on the Right so he has to go make it up to get his story, which I still think is entirely plausible, I hope it comes out. So really, either way, we should kick the crazies to the curb. I’m so over the “conservatives are racist” stereotype… anything we can do to get rid of the fringe that actually ARE racist is okay by me.

Hey, Valley Swim Club: 1953 Called, They Want Their Racism Back

And this didn’t even happen south of the Mason Dixon:

The Creative Steps Day Camp paid more than $1900 to The Valley Swim Club. The Valley Swim Club is a private club that advertises open membership. But the campers’ first visit to the pool suggested otherwise.

“When the minority children got in the pool all of the Caucasian children immediately exited the pool,” Horace Gibson, parent of a day camp child, wrote in an email. “The pool attendants came and told the black children that they did not allow minorities in the club and needed the children to leave immediately.”

The next day the club told the camp director that the camp’s membership was being suspended and their money would be refunded. “There was concern that a lot of kids would change the complexion … and the atmosphere of the club,” John Duesler, President of The Valley Swim Club said in a statement.

Wow. I’m completely blown away by this. Now, The Valley Swim Club is private, which means that theoretically, they have a right to admit whoever they want to. If the children were misbehaving or there were capacity issues, they DO have the right to refund their money and deny them access. If that were the case, you’d think that they’d have the brains to announce that right away and avoid negative of press. They deserve every ounce of negative coverage they get out of this.

Ooh! Ooh! RACIST!

It’s not too often the Left gets called out for racism, since that’s normally reserved for us. So I get to do it this time. Is it wrong that I’m excited?

Don’t care.

From McClatchy:

PLAs are collective bargaining agreements with labor unions that set the terms and conditions of employment on large construction projects. They typically make unions the bargaining representatives for workers at sites, even though 85 percent of U.S. construction workers aren’t union members. They also require nonunion workers to join unions and pay membership dues for the projects’ duration.

Because white males dominate the membership of the skilled construction trade unions, however, jobs for minorities and women could be hard to come by on large stimulus-bill projects unless the PLAs set goals for their inclusion.

I’m kind of confused. Where are the minority hiring pushes they love so much? That’s right, they’re not in the bill. Oops. Oversight by Team Lightbringer.

Moral of the story? The Left cares about minorities and women when it helps them politically. It’s so not about a bigger picture equality-giving-people-a-hand-up squishy “helping your fellow man” crap. In this case, that would require undermining unions… and we can’t have that! It’s about power and winning more votes to increase that power. Period. People won’t bite the hand that feeds them, even if that hand is rifling through their wallets.

It Must Be Exhausting To Be A Liberal.

I wonder what it’s like to never be satisfied.

“Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards,” Holder said.

“Saturdays and Sundays, America in the year 2009 does not in some ways differ significantly from the country that existed almost 50 years ago. This is truly sad,” said Holder.

Not significantly different? How can someone not turn on a television or go to a restaurant or a school and NOT see significant differences? Have you not noticed we’re drinking out of the same water fountains? Using the same entrances to buildings? We can all sit wherever we want to on a bus, shop at the same stores, eat at the same places, and marry whoever we want to. These aren’t significant changes?

So there are still significant divides. Acceptance of racial differences on a cultural level shouldn’t mean that we eliminate them. The trick is to appreciate those differences and acknowledge that they are what makes our country great, and different from every other country in the world. There are cultural elements to every race that we should never lose, because in losing what makes us different we ignore the importance of our histories. There are deep cultural differences, religious and otherwise, in America that we should never get rid of.

Anyway, the point is, I think the left is incredibly unhappy. As a whole. It makes me a little sad for them. It must be exhausting to think that everyone is out to oppress you and that every negative thing that happens is a conspiracy. To find racial slurs in every statement and run entirely on emotion. Doesn’t emotion eventually run out? I doubt that there will ever be an end to their need to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders.

Now before you even go there, I know that as a Conservative, I’m evil by definition, right? I just don’t care, which is why it doesn’t bother me that polar bears are drowning and people are wearing dead animals. Naturally, I couldn’t care less about poor people, women, children, black people, Hispanic people, etc. As I’ve said before…

[Conservatives]have never been through a difficult time in our sheltered lives and are completely out of touch with all the pain and suffering in the world. And we go out of our way to throw things at homeless people and kill kittens. It’s easy to be this happy when you just ignore the environment, poor people, minorities and world hunger.

Clearly, I had to have my tongue surgically removed from my cheek after that post. However, I’ll never be able to wrap my brain around why the left, in it’s zeal to champion every cause on the planet, is systematically killing off the very things that make us what we are. Do they have any idea what they’re doing? They’re removing freedoms daily. This administration has active started putting its hands in our schools, banks, car dealers, health care, and radio. What’s next? Why aren’t people infuriated that they’re losing what we’ve prided ourselves on since 1776?

The root of it is that they value false security over freedom, and they don’t seem to understand that a government powerful enough to give you everything can take it all away just as easily.

Post-Inaugural Thoughts

So I managed to avoid most of the inaugural circus yesterday. I picked up on some of it through Twitter, various conversations, and general reading… and managed to catch a couple videos online. I couldn’t even process everything that was going on. There was SO MUCH fanfare. Now don’t get me wrong, a new president is important, regardless of who it is. The pomp and circumstance is part of the deal.  But the important part is what happens at noon. And that was the part they missed! How do you run late for something like this? When the performance trumps the swearing in there’s a problem. And even scarier is that for about 10 minutes, since no POTUS was sworn in, Joe Biden was our president.

From what I can tell, the most disturbing part was the prayer by Reverend Joseph E. Lowery. What. The. Heck. Here was how he closed:

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoyyEpHBsmk]

And in the joy of a new beginning we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back/to give back (there were contradictory transcriptions, I certainly hope it’s the first), when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead man, and when white will embrace what is right. Let all those who’ll do justice and love mercy say amen.

Unbelievable. I have spent all morning trying to wrap my brain around this, and I suppose it was his appeal for unity. Or some other PC blather. Sure. Unity by telling white people that they don’t embrace what is right? The human condition is NOT confined to race.  I’m so tired of the right being painted as racists for this very reason. I cannot on any level figure out how this is NOT racist. Who calls people red and brown and yellow anymore? Are we in the 1950′s? It was totally inappropriate.

Side note: “When brown can stick around”… illegal immigration statement? So not the place for that, man.

Division along racial lines is exactly what the left says they are trying to overcome – all they are doing is defeating their own cause by allowing this rhetoric to not only continue, but to dominate yesterday’s proceedings. We saw a campaign defined by race, and now we’re in for an entire term defined by race, which makes me more than a little sad.

Rick Warren did everything I expected him to do. The prayer was generic, all inclusive, and generally as unoffensive as he could possibly be. The Newsweek breakdown of the prayer was as you would expect, but the wrap-up held some surprising validity.

Once again, his phrasing was deft: he invoked Jesus for himself, not for the millions on the mall or the billions watching on television. “I humbly ask this,” he said, “in the name of the one who changed my life…Jesus.” A good job, and yet the lingering question remains. Warren’s conservative theology teaches him that there is one path to God, and that is Jesus. So when he wraps his great big arms around Muslims and Jews (and homosexuals), does he really believe there’s hope for us? Or is he just being nice?

We’re truly in a PC age. You can find the entire text of Warren’s prayer here.

What did ya’ll think?
